About the Society

Astronomical Society VEGA Čakovec has been gathering space enthusiasts from the Međimurje area since 2010 and was founded after a long period of inactivity of Čakovec astronomers due to the closure of the once widely known Čakovec Astronomical Society. The city of Čakovec gave the society permission to use an observatory in the suburban town of Savska Ves, which has existed in the area since 1971, and where members of the society regularly make observations today. In addition to working in the observatory, astronomers from Čakovec regularly hold lectures for the interested public, schools and kindergartens, and participate in educational projects. The society has three telescopes at its disposal, the older Tasco 108/1600 mm motorized refractor located in the observatory, the Lunt LS60THa solar telescope, and the Maksutov MC 150/1800 SkyMax.

The Astronomical Society VEGA is a member of the Croatian Astronomical Association and the Croatian Meteor Network.
